The following day the Mets win the series by beating the Phillies 5-3 in a matchup of the two oldest LH pitchers in MLB history. Both pitchers basically pitched a solid identical game despite Jimmy Rollins lead off homer. It was close but still a loss. Phils only leave 9 on base and still lose.

They lost another series 1-2 and have a record of 2-7. On 4/11 Adam Eaton picks up the win and Tom Gordon the save as the Phillies win this one 5-2. The Mets basically walked the Phillies around the bases in this one and the Phils still left 22 on base, 8 by Eaton who only gave up two runs in 7 innings.

Rollins commits a key error, Howard’s 3-run homer isnt enough, they waste a good outing by Cole Hamels and the Phillies just look plain bad. At 1-6 you have to start wondering how long before the losing stops. Its early but you don’t want to bury yourself. Hamels had 7 strikeouts in 6 innings giving up two runs but the mets score 7 in the 8th inning to steal this one 11-5. The Mets actually left one more runner on base than the Phils in this one, 18-19!

The Phillies drop this one 4-8 to the Fish. In the 7th they walked 4 times and only score 1 run, just sad. This time we left a season high 28 on base! The catchers Ruiz and Barajas let a combined 10! The only two really playing well on offense are Jimmy Rollins and Pat Burrell both batting over .300. We start off 0-3 to the Braves and 1-2 to the Marlins. Here comes the Mets!

Well our one win was short lived because the D-Train Dontrelle Willis put an end to the party. It was not a 3 hit shutout gem but it was enough to drop the Phils to 1-4. Willis struck out 9 in 6 innings and the Marlins put up runs all game. Once again in the man lest on base area, Howard left 5 and the Phils as a team lost that stat too 20-16.

We got our first win of the season 8-2 in Florida! Pat Burrell and Jamie Moyer proved to be the stoppers. Florida’s fielding helped too as the Phillies scored 4 unearned. I like the men left on base stat, Utley left 3 more out there. The Phillies as a team left only 14on base compared to 27 the other day.

Well Atlanta made it look easy taking all three from the Phillies. The game was close at 2-1 until Atlanta exploded for 6 runs in the top of the 5th. The Philles left a wopping 27 on base led by 6 from Howard and 5 by Rowand. A little small ball will go a long way.

Once again the Phillies lost in extra innings on a home run. This time it was in the 11th inning. Tom Gordon blew the save and Pat Burrell continues to hear the boos. The final score was 3-2. In the first two games Chase Utley has left 8 men on base, not a good start. he should bounce back.

Well the first game of the season went the distance and them some into the 10th inning. Unfortunately the Phils came up short and lost to the Braves 5 to 3. Edgar Renteria hit two home runs including the game winner. Its a loss but its also a long season.
