Phillies 5 Mets 2

April 9th, 2008 . by joe

The Phillies picked up where they left off last season with a come from behind 5-2 win over the Mets in New York yesterday. Jamie Moyer got the win for the Phils who evened their record at 4-4. They have taken 9 straight over the Mets and will be going for their 10th straight tonight. It is always nice when the Phils beat up on the Mets. Kyle Kendrick will start tonight for the Phils. He is 1-0 on the season and ptiched decent in his last start against the Reds. He needs to tweek his pitching game by commanding his sinker that allows him to confuse the batters with his other pitches. If the sinker is working right he can be tough to face and will get a lot of ground balls.

Stretch time fo rthe Phils

September 22nd, 2007 . by dan

Well its stretch time for the Phillies. The Mets are not playing good at all and the Phillies are on a roll. They have played all seven games this week picking up 6 more wins! They been the Mets (for another sweep), the Cardinals and the Nats. Things are swinging in their favor.

Welcome to September

September 1st, 2007 . by dan

Well September is the time to make a run if the Phillies are going to make one this year. It is clear that this team has a hunger. They swept the all four games from the Mets and picked up 6 victories this week. Great Job.

Phils drop the 1st to the Mets

June 29th, 2007 . by Go Phils

The Phillies tried to come back in this one but could not overcome a 6-1 deficit by the top of the 4th. The only non-homerun related run by the Phillies was by pat Burrell. Of course he didn’t homer, I’m just glad he even made contact. The bright side is Cole Hamels is on the mount for the second game. Go Phils.

Phils sweep Mets

June 7th, 2007 . by Go Phils

The Phillies capped off a great series vs the Mets with a 6-3 victory in 10 innings to sweep the Mets. Burrell homered off Wagner to send it to extra innings and Utley and Rollins scored the go ahead runs. Hamels does not get the win even though he went a strong 7 innings striking out 5.

Chase lifts the Phillies past Mets

June 5th, 2007 . by Go Phils

Chase Utley hit a 3 run homer in the top half of the 11th to get the Phillies a win against the Mets in New York. Both Moyer and Glavine pitched superb 7 innings of baseball only allowing 2 runs each. The Phillies are now only 6 games behind the division leading Mets.

After two postponed the Phils get Rocked

April 18th, 2007 . by Go Phils

Well Garcia got to start in front of the Philly fans after two games with the Astros were postponed on the 15th & 16th. Unfortunately he looked like crap losing 8-1. He only lasted 4 2/3 and the win earned Glavine his 293rd career victory.

Mets win series

April 13th, 2007 . by Go Phils

The following day the Mets win the series by beating the Phillies 5-3 in a matchup of the two oldest LH pitchers in MLB history. Both pitchers basically pitched a solid identical game despite Jimmy Rollins lead off homer. It was close but still a loss. Phils only leave 9 on base and still lose.

Phils take one from Mets

April 12th, 2007 . by Go Phils

They lost another series 1-2 and have a record of 2-7. On 4/11 Adam Eaton picks up the win and Tom Gordon the save as the Phillies win this one 5-2. The Mets basically walked the Phillies around the bases in this one and the Phils still left 22 on base, 8 by Eaton who only gave up two runs in 7 innings.

Mets blow past Phils

April 10th, 2007 . by Go Phils

Rollins commits a key error, Howard’s 3-run homer isnt enough, they waste a good outing by Cole Hamels and the Phillies just look plain bad. At 1-6 you have to start wondering how long before the losing stops. Its early but you don’t want to bury yourself. Hamels had 7 strikeouts in 6 innings giving up two runs but the mets score 7 in the 8th inning to steal this one 11-5. The Mets actually left one more runner on base than the Phils in this one, 18-19!
