Phillies 20 Rockies 6

May 27th, 2008 . by joe

After a road trip to Washington and Houston the Phillies returned home last night to the friendly confines of Citizens Bank Park. They routed the undermanned Colorado Rockies 20-5 in route to their 29th win of the season. The Phillies pounded the Rockies pitching for 19 hits with Chase Utley and Chris Coste each hitting a 3 run homer. The offense was relentless as they pouned each pitcher that entered the game for Coloradeo. Jamie Moyer went 7 innings for the win and improved to 5-3 on the season. He had a rough 1st inning allowing a 3 run homer to Ryan Spilborghs but Chase Utley got it right back in the bottom of the 1st. Moyer settled in after that while the Phillies bats took it to Jorge De La Rosa. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings allowing 7 runs 6 of which were earned. The Rockies bullpen didn’t fare much better as the Phillies tacked on 13 runs in the remaining innings.

Ryan Madsen pitched a scoreless inning to get his first win of the season. Brad Lidge pitched a scoreless 9th inning for his fourth save. The win puts the Phillies at 11-10 for the season and they head off to Milwaukee for a two game series starting tonight.

The Phillies came from behind with a 2 run 8th inning and a 3 run 9th inning to get a victory over Colorado. Kyle Kendrick went 5 innings giving up 5 runs on 8 hits in another rocky start for the Phillies. Luckily the bullpen came in and did its job well allowing only 1 hit over the last 4 innings. The offense was led again by Chase Utley who hit a home run in his 5th consecutive game and tied a Phillies record. Pat Burrell and Jason Werth also homered with Werth’s of the inside the park variety. The big hit came with the bases loaded and two out in the 8th when Carlos Ruiz stroked a two-run double to right.

The Season is over…

October 6th, 2007 . by dan

The season ended at the hands of the Colorado Rockies today with the Phillies being swept. Each game something else went wrong with the Phils. Mainly they just didn’t hit well. the big bats were silent noticeably with Chase Utley. It was a great year. Maybe next year…

A Glimmer of hope for the Phils

September 15th, 2007 . by dan

Once again the Phils beat up on the Mets taking the first two games of the series and finishing the series tomorrow in New York. The Phillies played all seven games this week picking up 5 wins. They did lose two of three to the Rockies.

Phils are a .500 team at the AllStar break

The Phillies pulled the game out 8-4 today and even helped the ground crew cover the field. The storms in Colorado the past two days have been crazy. They did drop the series 1-2. Hopefully they can get their pitching staff healthy for the second half of the season.

Home Run Derby

July 6th, 2007 . by Go Phils

Not only will the Home Run Derby be exciting this Monday with Ryan Howard participating (and not Barry Bonds) but it should feel like Home Run Derby in the next series with the Rockies. The starters that are going out there for both teams all have ERA’s over 4 1/2! We may end up with a few football scores.
